Application of Knowledge (AOK)

In  this application assignment you need to think critically about  leadership effectiveness as it relates to your current coaching or  administrative responsibilities. You need to focus on something that you  can do to improve your personal leadership effectiveness as it relates  to the people you work with (players, assistants, staff members, coaches  in the department).

Based on past experience, you  need to think of ways that you can increase your leadership  effectiveness. Each of you has a unique situation, personality and  abilities that will affect your leadership style. What I want you to focus on is how to use information covered in this section to improve  your leadership skills. In your responses consider using any of the  following areas: 

Considering that many new Leadership theories use  Transformational Leadership and Emotional Intelligence in their  theories, please discuss how these are being used when you make  leadership decisions.  

Part 1:

Take your team or a team that you are a part of or would like to be a part of someday and discuss the following in your program:

First,  Ask yourself why you do what you do.  Second, How you do it and Third,  What is it that you do?  When you identify these three things about your  program, it will stimulate your thinking on how you want to lead your  program.

Determine your Program Vision

Establish your Core Values

Develop your Team Goals

This  assignment will help you discover what direction you would like your  team to navigate and help develop leadership within your team. I have  attached the Mission Statement that I had for our Football program at  Saddleback College as an example.
