The annotated bibliography is the first step toward your Capstone Research Paper. This assignment helps you identify and evaluate the sources that will form the foundation of your research. Each annotation will summarize the content of the source and explain its relevance to your chosen research topic.
Instructions
- Watch this video: Format an Annotated Bibliography (Standalone format)
- Select Sources:
- Identify at least 10 sources, with a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Ensure that all sources are directly relevant to your research topic.
- Additional sources may include books, reports, or other reliable academic materials.
- Write Annotations:
- For each source, provide a brief annotation (2-3 sentences).
- Include:
- A summary of the source’s key points. Avoid simply restating the title or abstract.
- The sub-topic(s) it applies to, clearly specified.
- An explanation of how it relates to your subtopic or supports your argument.
Formatting Requirements
- Use APA style for both in-text citations and the reference list.
- Submit a single document formatted as follows:
- Title Page: Include your name, course title, assignment title, and date. (This does not count toward the word count.)
- Annotations: Present sources in alphabetical order by the author’s last name.
- Reference List and In-text Citations: Include all citations in APA format.
Grading
- This assignment will be graded using the Rubric for Annotated Bibliography.
- Late submissions will incur a 5% grade deduction for every calendar day past the deadline.
- Turnitin checks submissions for plagiarism and AI-generated content. To avoid academic misconduct, submit your work early to allow time for revisions if needed.
