dentify one of your major takeaways from this course. What aspects of the course helped you achieve this?

The major takeaways that I have obtained from this course are the qualities of being a strong leader. Strong leaders are able to analyze a situation, point out the internal and external barriers, and develop solutions to help solve the situation. As a leader, it is vital to be able to adjust to change and develop new ways to resolve different issues. The assignment that helped me to understand better this was the SWOT analysis infographic. This allowed me to break down each main category and understand how a particular issue within a healthcare system affects different areas and what could be a potential solution for it.

Choose one of the course student learning outcomes (CSLO). Please explain how you could apply your chosen learning outcome to your practice and/or have achieved this outcome having participated in this class. How will you apply this knowledge to your practice and career?

The two main learning outcomes that stuck with me the most were to discuss the concepts of a healthy workplace and a healthy workforce (CSLO 6) and to examine the strategies employed by successful leaders and managers within teams and in organizations that promote healthy personal and professional behaviors (CSLO 1, 6). These learning outcomes have helped me to put more attention into creating a healthy and more positive work environment for not only myself but for my coworkers around me. As a leader, the team should feel supported by their leader. I have applied this to my practice by offering help at the start of the shift and throughout so that I can allow the team not to feel rushed and put more time into tasks that are of a higher priority. I allow the team to work at their own pace and do not hover over them. I continuously allow myself to be a resource for others and adjust to any situation I am put into. I will continue to take initiative and be an example for others to follow

Good evening everyone. It's the final week already, wow!

One of the biggest changes I feel has happened because of this course is one I did not expect at all. For context, I'm a relatively camera-shy person. My new role in clinical documentation improvement requires a whole lot of on-camera presentation and interaction (you can probably see where this is going). When I first looked through our assignments, I was dreading the number of videos we would be recording. Not even halfway through the course I was already feeling much better for the sheer fact that we did those (exposure therapy worked!). Now I just need to bring down the number of takes I had to do.

For our CSLO's, I chose CSLO 1: Apply leadership and management principles, concepts, and decision-making skills, in the provision of high-
quality nursing care and high-quality nursing leadership.
As I already mentioned, I think the discussions and projects involving camera usage actually contributed a lot to this. Being able to present accurate and detailed information to others, regardless of the medium, is a part of being a leader. You have to be able to engage your audience, be clear throughout, concise when needed, and get through it without running away! From a leadership knowledge standpoint, I feel like this class allowed me to see things from the other side as a leader, not just a follower. It is a similar mindset in many ways and very different in others. You're taking into consideration an entire team which is a massive responsibility whether it's two people or two-hundred.

Great job everyone! Thank you to Dr. Wrisley for all your hard work throughout the course and for responding to all my anxiety-fueled emails. I wish all of you the best going forwa
