LAB: Accessing TrixBox Server & Resetting to Defaults
1) Access the TrixBox server via IP address 192.168.1.3/24 with 192.168.2.100 as the gateway.
Note: Internet Explorer encounters problems connecting to the TrixBox server, Mozilla Firefox should be used. IP address may need to be configured manually in the Network Connections settings of Windows to allow proper connectivity.
2) The TrixBox User GUI should appear. At the top right User mode – switch should appear. Click switch.
3) Enter the username ‘maint,’ and password ‘password.’
4) You are now in maintenance mode and can manually set certain features back to defaults.
5) Click on the PBX tab and select PBX Settings.
6) On the left side list, under Basic, select Extensions.
7) Now, if extensions have been created, they should appear on the right side, (ie: Jane Doe, John Smith, etc).
8) Once clicked on, their details should appear. Select Delete Extension #### which is at the top of the page.
9) Repeat step 8 for all extensions.
10) System recordings will need to be deleted. Select System Recordings on the left side list, (at the bottom). Delete all but the highlighted recordings in the picture below, (similar to deleting extensions).
11) After all extensions have been deleted and all settings have been changed, click Apply Configuration Settings at the top.
12) X-Lite 4 soft phones will not need to be reset to defaults since they are installed in a Deep Freeze environment and automatically get reset when computers are restarted.
13) To reset the hard phones, simply select the menu button, config, and find factory reset.
14) The TrixBox server, soft phones, and hard phones should now be set to nearest defaults.
YOU SHOULD NOT have to complete these last steps. In the case were somebody does something that they should not have done or if some natural disaster strikes then these step will be necessary.
1) If there is a power failure or the router is unplugged, log into the router via console and use the command: copy startup-config running-config
2) The trixbox server is the means through which all of the phones can communicate and store their information. The trixbox version is 2.8.0.3 and is installed on the Dell Power Edge 1750 server. If, for some reason, the trixbox server becomes unusable or corrupted it will then need to be reinstalled. The Trixbox CD is provided and the steps to restore the system are as follows.
1. Make sure that the server is set up to boot from disk.
2. Set the burned disk inside the CD-ROM drive and reboot the server.
3. You should see the following screen. Press enter when you are ready and remember that it will format the whole drive.
4. Next, you should choose your keyboard type which should be ‘us’
5. Next, select your appropriate time zone which should be central time.
6. Next, set the root password.
7. Now the installation process will start. When the installation is complete the computer should restart. Please note that you will have to take out the disk when the computer restart or else it will take you back to the beginning of the installation process.
8. After you log in with the password that you created, you need to then enable the interfaces. First you need to run the #system-config-network command and add the following information on both interfaces.
9. Now everything should be back to its original defaults.
