In this lesson, we learned about different kinds of literature that meet specific academic
standards, such as peer review. For this assignment, you will use the library databases
to find a scholarly, peer-reviewed article about your area of interest. You will then use
Google or another web-based search engine to find a non-scholarly article about the
same topic.
Once you’ve read both articles, you will compare and contrast them. Think about the
following as you analyze these articles.
What is the tone of each article?
Who is the intended audience for each article?
Is the article in the first, second, or third person? Why do you think that is the way it was written?
How can you verify the facts and statements presented in each article?
What kinds of bias do you find in each article? Is that addressed in the article? If so, how?
What other similarities and differences do you find in these two articles?
Length: 5 to 10 pages (approximately 250 words per page), not including title and
reference pages.
References: Include 3 scholarly resources.
